BBRC staff presents research at University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Alexis Nelson and Hailey Fong, PhD students in the Breast Biomechanics Research Center, presented their research to students and faculty of the Biomedical Engineering program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center on Friday, October 21st.

Dr. Powell gives presentations at Angelo State University.

Dr. Powell gave three presentations to Kinesiology students at Angelo State University highlighting conducted in the Breast Biomechanics Research Center. In addition to his research presentations, Dr. Powell discussed student recruitment and U of M’s developing Doctor of Physical Therapy program with the chair of the Kinesiology program, Dr. James Eldridge.

Dr. Powell is awarded the University of Memphis Graduate Student Advisor Award

On Friday, September 30th, Dr. Powell was awarded the 2022 Graduate Student Advisor Award by the University of Memphis. Candidates for the Award are nominated by current and former graduate students with a single Award given each year. Upon receiving the award, Dr. Powell stated that he is “honored and privileged to have the opportunity to work with such capable and dedicated graduate students. They are the center of our purpose and success in the Breast Biomechanics Research Center”.

Dr. Powell presents at the University of Tennessee

On September 2nd, Dr. Powell gave a research presentation to the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. His presentation entitled Sports Bra-Related Improvements in Running Performance and Underlying Biomechanical Determinants represents some of the recent research conducted by the BBRC.

Hailey Fong Wins Interest Group Award

Hailey Fong, a PhD student in the Breast Biomechanics Research Center, won the Biomechanics Interest Group Presentation Award at the 2022 Annual Meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine for her research investigating the effect of sports bra support on knee joint biomechanics during double limb landing. The annual conference was held at the Convention Center in San Diego, California.

Hailey Fong presents at Southern Miss.

On April 8th, Hailey Fong presented BBRC research to the School of Kinesiology and Nutrition at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Her presentation focusing on the influence of sports bra support on knee joint biomechanics elicited an exuberant discussion of potential follow up projects.
